According to sources close to the negotiations, former Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis has reached a verbal agreement to sign with the New York Yankees for one year, earning $12 million. Youkilis is expected to see significant time at third base filling in for the injured Alex Rodriguez, who will miss some part of the season due to hip surgery. Youkilis was traded from the Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox last season, but became a free agent after Chicago declined his option for 2013.
